Herbie got together with other famous people and recorded three songs. He then invited ordinary members of the public to go to Abbey Road recording studios to record the backing vocals. I was lucky enough to do this. We all had a fabulous day, meeting the celebs, singing and then receiving, later, a copy of the single, a certificate and photos. He was a lovely man , very down to earth. RIP Herbie, keep playing the music up there.

Aging rock fiends, honing down their collections to favorites listen to Maestro Flowers all the time, he's on so much that's the best. When music anthropologists of the future are giddy with excitement over 70s rock, they'll pick out Flowers stylistics.

You befriended my son Ásgeir (then 9yo) in 1999 and recognised a potentially great bass player. Your assessment subsequently proved correct. Rest in peace Herbie. It was an honour to have known you
