He was a good friend. He taught me how to ice climb. My first solo with Chip was climbing a tree that was rigged in Schenley park. Also being the captain of the Maggie Maurders bicycle team for so many years, helping to raise thousands of dollars to help fund MS research. I have many fond memories of Chip.

Robin,
I was looking at some old pictures and came across some old ski pics. I googled The Ski Academy and was so sad to hear about Chip. I used to teach skiing at Laurel Mtn and went to Telluride with you guys. It has been a long time! My condolences.

Robin, I only learned of Chip's passing today when reading the Emma Willard Bulletin! I was dumbfounded, as was everyone! I am wanting to reach out to you now, a year later, despite the fact I have been "off the radar" in Rochester, MN! You are so fortunate to have had Chip as a life partner and soul mate!

I'm little late, I know.
We miss him here in Idaho. He was a great example, a mentor, a partner, a coach and best of all, a friend.
Today: Tears and smiles all at once.
Love to Robin, Jason and Bryan.

Robin, It has been quite some time ago that I last saw you and Chip. This is Dick Watson and I am just getting back into rock climbing; so I rejoined the explorers club. The last time I did anything with Chip was when I took him, Jason, and Ed Petrisik sport climbing in W Va. I used to live with Ed and Jean. I was shocked to learn what happened; I guy in such great condition. Please accept my belated condolances; I just found out what happened. I should keep in touch with old friends and community better than I do.

Our family was part of the Buckaloons partnership group. After meeting Chip on the slopes and in the lodge, we carried forward to rock climbing at White Rocks near Uniontown. I headed West to college in Montana while Chip advanced to Schweitzer and Telluride. Two years ago I collided with a mutual acquaintance in Yosemite when I heard the unmistakable accent of a wayward Pittsburgher. There was Stu Kuperstock, a long-time climbing/skiing bum. Our conversation of connections led us to Chip. He was a human comet moving through adventures with gusto. He joins the realm of other outdoor pals who have crossed over. Your life was a gift to us all, Chip. We'll carry on in the wake of your spirit and never forget your love of life.

Robin,
So sorry to learn of Chips passing. Don't know if you remember me,but we go back a long way. Was an instructor with the Ski Academy, spent more than a little time in the ski shop you had in East Liberty, spent many fun weekends teaching at the Buckaloons with Chip. Will never forget the drive to Telluride & the visit to your beautiful home with the super overlook of the mountain. All very fond memories of both you & Chip.
As time drifted on, We lost contact & that is regrettable.
I feel your pain & know how difficult it will be for you & your family. I lost my wife of 53 years April 5,2012. It is tough, I'm still in kind of a shell, but you have to move forward.
Again, you have my utmost sympathy & will keep Chip & you in my prayers.
God bless & give you comfort.

Chip will always be remembered fondly. I ride on another MS150 team but have close friends on Maggie's Marauder's and have had the pleasure of riding with Chip and Bob up to the Allegheny Portage railroad a few times. What a great spirit and legacy he leaves behind! You have my deepest sympathies.

Chip lived several lifetimes of life. He gobbled it up, making all around him wonder why we were so lazy, and couldn't possibly keep up. Conflicting notions, a dynamo, in constant productive motion, that would be still and truly listen and reflect. We, feel cheated at our loss, yet we're all richer for having had the chance to follow this wonderful man.

While Chip was always at the front of the pack, he was a cheerleader for everyone in the pack. I know this because I was always the last, and he would still be at the MS150 finish line with a big smile and congratulations. Chip's brand of leadership is a special gift that gave everyone a lift.

To the Kamin Family,
I am very sadden to learn of Chips passing. I have great respect for Chip as he greatly supported and gave of his time and finances to support the MS Cause. I had the privilege of being his friend when I worked for the MS Society, Keystone Country Bike ride. He was an outstanding team captain that grew his team and donations over the years. May God give you the strength in the days to come.
My deepest Sympathy,

Robin and family,
Chip was such a great influence on us all. As captain of our Maggie's Marauder's team, Chip encouraged all of us to give up part of our lives to help a worth cause and help others like Maggie to have a better life. All of us who knew and loved Chip have a better life because of his wonderful influence on us. chip taught me how to ice climb. He took me out to a park and taught me how to climb trees for practice. Chip was always just a phone call away and I will hear his voice encouraging me every time I ride my bike or sink my ice axe into some ice. I am so glad to have had Chips positive influence in my life. i am a better person because of him. I am going to stand on his shoulders and reach out for higher things. Now may God's rich blessing be with you and your family as you start a new chapter in your life. we are all a phone call away if you need anything. Our hope is that we will all see Chip again when we get to heaven. Love and prayers from murrysville, Pa john Zolko

John Zolko here.
Robin and Family,
We are all going to miss Chip. but not nearly as much as you guys. Chip was such an inspiration to us all. He taught me how to ice climb. He encouraged us all to ride for a great cause. Now it is time to look back on the great positive influence Chip had on us and we can stand on his shoulders and do the great things he inspired us all to do. Now is also the time to give thanks to God for a life well lived. and to know that we all have a hope of seeing Chip again in heaven. You know we all are just a phone call away if we can help with anything. God's peace be with you all as you get thur your loss. Just know that you are loved so much by all of us.

The summers of '68 and '71 with Margo and Chip defintely shaped my life in a positive way. News from the Republican Convention, Mia Rockefeller's adventures and the discovery of Fallingwaters. Chip was always there to support Margo in her Autie Mame style. But it was his love of sports esp skiing which he first shared with my Dad, Ray Rau and brothers, Tim and C.J., that held a special place in our family which was passed on to my sister, kimberly and her husband, Jan who went out to Idaho to share in Chip and Robin's dream come true. How I loved getting those holiday cards each year! My heart just breaks for Robin and the boys that Chip left so young.

Chip was our heart and soul. Someone we all looked up to and aspired to be, knowing we could never come close. No matter, Chip would never let us fall too far behind and was always there to give us a helping hand and encouragement. Chip was truly one of a kind. Physically we could only hope to be as good as Chip but it was his heart and soul that truly made Chip that special person. I first met Chip when he volunteered to take me up Seneca Rocks in Feb 1996 for the ECP Mountaineering School. We bivied at the top and it turned out to be the coldest day ever in WV (-18). It was one my greatest adventures and I owe it all to Chip. Chip took so many of us on great adventures. I will miss him dearly.
