AGE: 56 • Bay Head
Donald George Davis Jr., of Bay Head, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the age of 56. Don was the owner/operator of Final Touch Sitework, Irrigation & Landscaping Co. Inc., Brick for over 30 years. Don always took great pride in striving for only the best in all his business endeavors, and that is why he was always well known as a hardworking and successful businessman for many years. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Don was a very generous person and was engaged in many community activities. Don was a skilled hockey player and scored the winning goal with 37 seconds left to capture the first Gordon Cup for the Brick Dragons in 1975. Don continued his passion for hockey playing semi-pro with a farm team for the Philadelphia Flyers. Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident of Brick before moving to Bay Head in 2003. Don was a wonderful loving husband, father and a devoted friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving wife of 17 years, Gina Marie Annecharico Davis; son, Donald George Davis III, at home; daughters, Shannon Davis Pearson and her husband Francis of Toms River, and Brielle Davis of North Carolina; parents, Donald and Harriet Davis of Brick; brothers, John Davis of Forked River, and Glen Davis of Howell; sisters, Terry Davis of Navarre, FL, and Ruth Davis-Sumaya and her husband Ray of Brick; 3 grandchildren, Genavieve, Rocco and Noah, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to a scholarship fund to be set up for Donald G. Davis III. For more information or to send condolences, please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Donnie. I was his teammate on the Brick High School ice hockey team and recall vividly like it was yesterday his winning goal in our first ever Gordon Cup Championship in 1974. A great guy with a big heart. My sincere condolences to his family.
