Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 13 to Sep. 14, 2015.
GUTHRIE, Holly
Holly Marie Petrick Guthrie, (54), passed away at home Friday night, August 28th, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. She was born Tuesday morning, November 8th, 1960, at St. David's Hospital on 32nd St., in Austin, Texas, to Mary Edna and Anthony Thomas Petrick.

Holly attended Round Rock Middle School (6-8), was an A student and was thrilled to be on the gymnastics team and a cheerleader in the 7th and 8th grades. Moving on to Round Rock High School she continued to be an excellent student, National Honor Society, Editor of the 1978 Dragon Yearbook, Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleader. Graduating in 1979 in the top 10% of her class, she had previously applied to and was accepted to the University of Texas at Austin. She was a College Scholar, University Honor Roll, Dean's List, Omicron Nu Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society, Texas Cowgirls, Acacia Fraternity little sister and a proud member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Holly graduated the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors, May, 1983. She most enjoyed her business classes (accounting, marketing, business communications) and went on to attend The Graduate School of Business-The University of Texas at Austin, studying financial accounting and cost accounting.

She worked (and enjoyed both her work and co-workers) for many years at Ace Contractor's Supply (Austin, Texas), and until her health failed she enjoyed being a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Highland Park location. Holly was a gourmet cook, loved gardening and a huge football fan, especially loving the Longhorns and the Cowboy's.

Holly is predeceased by both sets of grandparents; step-father, Dr. Vernon L. Elledge; cousins Darryl W. Petrick, and Samuel H. Wesson; and her very best and dearest friend, her Boston Terrier, Willie.

She is survived by her beloved and most adored son, Anthony Ryan Guthrie (Evelin); mother Mary Edna Elledge; father, Anthony Thomas Petrick (Dianna); step-sister, Stephaney Lundberg and step-brother, Wesley Lundberg; and the father of her son, Gregory Ray Guthrie.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 18th, 2015, in the Colonial Chapel at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar., Austin, Texas and Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park, on Hancock Drive.

Much love and many prayers to Holly's family and loved ones. As the little sister of Don Webb, I grew up admiring her beautiful pictures in the RRHS yearbooks. Many fond and special memories were captured from those years. Thoughts and prayers go out to Holly's family and most especially to her son.

Mary,
The obituary paints the picture of a beautiful person. Loss of a close loved one is always difficult, but loss of a child adds a whole new dimension. I hope that the memories of the past will soon begin to replace the pain of the present and bring comfort to you during your grief and beyond. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

I just looked through all of the wonderful pictures of Holly and they filled me with joy ... and sadness. I remember RRMS and RRHS so well, and Holly was right there in the middle of those wonderful memories! I remember summer days at the pool, all of us lying around with music and laughter, slumber parties, football games, and more. Holly, you were truly a special person and you will be missed so...
