Dear Perkins family,

For most of my life you have included me as part of your family. I have enjoyed the stories your Mom and Dad have told me, supplemented with your individual experiences of rural Vermont life. I especially liked in your Mom the artistic qualities. I didn't tire of hearing stories like the piece of wood floating down the river that eventually became the cane that she carved; or, stories of each portrait she did, including those of you children. I loved it!

I respect you all for giving back to your mother and allowing her to die in her own home, cared for by her children. I'ts lovely thing.

Deane, Jo Ann, Pam, I read with sadness of the passing of your mother. I remember her as a kind, gentle, generous, and sweet woman. She had a good long life and I hope she lived pain and illness free.
When I read that you moved to Florida in 1954 (a place very distant and alien to me at that time) I asked myself " where have the years gone?" It seems like yesterday when we would swim in your pond, play "chase" and just generally have fun.
My best regards to all of you.

Dean,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in the loss of your mother. May your memories of her help to heal the hurt and may the many drawings she did keep your memory alive. God Bless
