Houston Ledbetter

MACON ó Houston Laverne Ledbetter, 88, died Jan. 2, 2012, at Windsor Place at Plantation Pointe. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation is today from 4-7 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home. Mr. Ledbetter was born June 19, 1923, to the late Edgar and Stella Gray Ledbetter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Macon Electric Light and Water Department after 43 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Fair Ledbetter; sister, Helen Kinard; and many stepbrothers and stepsisters. Survivors include his daughter, Gloria Tidwell of Petal; sons, Calvin L. Ledbetter of Pensacola, Fla., and Jerry G. Ledbetter of Aberdeen; brother, Calvin Owen Ledbetter of Edgar, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
