Howard Joseph Chenevert Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017. He was 88 years old. Beloved husband of the late Sallie Harris Chenevert for over 52 years. Loving father of Donna Brown (Aubrey), Guy Chenevert, Leslie Linder, G. Paul Chenevert, and the late Robert Chenevert and Howard Chenevert Jr. (Julie). Grandfather of Ian Chenevert (Rowan), Michel Linder, Michael Linder Jr., Matthew Linder, Jennifer Brown, and the late Catherine Barnett. Great-grandfather of Robert Lawrence Chenevert, Sarah Chenevert, Catherine Chenevert, Matthew Chenevert, Joshua Barnett, Jordan Barnett, Buford Barnett Jr., Theresa Varuso, and Walter Varuso Jr. Great-great-grandfather of Sophie Varuso. Also survived by the Gros family, who he and his family considered to be closer than friends. Howard was a native of Plaucheville and was a resident of New Orleans for over 30 years and Westwego for over 40 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy on U.S.S. Leyte during World War II. He retired from Southern Pacific after many dedicated years of service. Howard was a talented craftsman, and enjoyed making model ships.
