Duke was like family to my family- To my kids he was an additional "baseball grandpa".

In addition to baseball, the one thing that always brought a smile to Duke's face was when he talked with pride about his family. The accomplishments of his grandkids and great grandkids always came out with a prideful smile.

On behalf of myself and Mike Toomey- We formed a baseball bond through the years that created so many memories and a special friendship. The times spent talking baseball, both past and future (in regards to scouting and the game today) have become some of the greatest memories of our lives. Friendships like the one that the three of us have is what makes life great.

God Bless

Davis family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I only knew Duke for a short time while helping the Town of Vestal Historian at the library, but quickly realized he was a great guy and a great asset to us all. He could keep you spellbound with his adventures.
May you all find peace after his passing.

I would deepest condolences to Duke family and friends. Duke was a very good friend of mine. We went to many welcome home Binghamton dinners and Binghamton games although I live in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Duke’s been to my home and we took him to the BROOKLYN cemetery and toured all baseball players plots. I miss you Duke I will always miss our phone conversations. 13 years ago you told me that I must quit smoking and after 28 years that was a last night I smoked cigarettes. Love and miss you so much! The last time I spoke with Duke he thought he was going to be 100 he said he was going to get a letter from the president although Duke was 97 I told him yes Duke congratulations. Rest in peace my good friend You’ll always be in my heart on my mind and in my prayers.
