Mrs. Hughes,
I'm so sorry for your loss. When I think of my childhood I think of you and Mr. Hughes, you once told me as a small child that there was a ladder that went from here to heaven. I'm sure Mr. Hughes is sitting at the top of that ladder smiling down. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Laurie & David....

I just wanted to share my fondest childhood memory of you and Mr. Hughes, I remember walking down the street everyday to come to your house and play Howdy Doody and other board games and getting peanuts :) I also remember playing with Buster. Mr. Hughes will be dearly missed by everyone. If there is any thing i can do to help you through this hard time I'm right down the street, just ask!

We are very sadded by the passing of Howard.He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by everyone in the neighborhood. We have many wonderful memories of Howard in the six years we have lived the neighborhood.Of the many, the one that is most dear to my heart is when my son left for basic training in August of 2011.Howard always assured me that everything was going to be ok and that he was a fine young man and will do well. Dear Mrs. Huges and family-
I, and my children, will always remember with warm thoughts,you and your husband. It is so true what was written that "you and your husband enjoyed your roles as surrogate grandparents" to the kids of our block. Even though we have been gone from the neighborhood for many years now, I and my children will always remember our years there with such warmth as they loved coming over to your house to visit and sneak a treat.
