I was extremely sad to hear about the loss of Dr. Howard Kirshenbaum. He was my personal physician, and I liked him very much for his friendship, kindness and concern for my wellbeing. I had a lot in common with him: playing the piano and love of music, and on each visit we would discuss Chopin's music. I send to his family my deepest condolences. Robert Finley

To the Kirshenbaum Family,
Dr Kirshenbaum started treating me back in 1985 when I was 30 yrs old and diagnosed with extreme high blood pressure and an enlarged heart. Upon our meeting, he immediately set me at ease with his friendly demeanor. In subsequent appts/tests, his upbeat
personality was always the norm and we would always chat about
family and vacations. I was sad when he became ill and just
now learned about his passing which is stunning considering that
he was always fit and young beyond his years. My sincere sympathies
to his family and he will be missed by so many.

I was so saddened to hear of Howie's death. In the early 70's we would sit around the kitchen table in south Minneapolis discussing how we might impart healthy values to adolescents involved in Project Youth with Barb Glaser and other friends.
I will remember you fondly and miss you Howie

Dear Elaine, Jennifer and Daniel,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. All of us with last names starting with K got to know each other very well in class and especially during lab and clinical training sessions (practicing to be docs!) at medical school. A wonderful combination of compassion, dedication and humor, Howie also possessed amazing musical talents. I was pleased but not surprised to see he had retained all of these gifts crowned by his love and devotion to you so evident when you all came to our house to celebrate our HMS '74 20th reunion. Some of my fondest memories of medical school and our class revolve around playing in the show band under Howie's able leadership for our 2nd and 4th year shows and having the opportunity to play again with him in our 20th reunion clambake/garage band. Thank you for sharing Howie with us. We'll miss him like crazy!

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Howard's passing. Although we had not kept in touch in recent years, I remember our years together at MGH about 30 years ago, when we were both starting out together. I remember the days at Charles River Park and working on projects together. He was bright, enthusiastic and kind - very special and my thoughts are with Elaine and the family.

my love and my respect for you

Brilliant, kind, compassionate, and a true family man. He also had a great sense of humor and was incredibly dedicated to his patients. He was an extraordinary teacher. My prayers are with all of you.

To the Kirshenbaum family. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a funny, professional and loving friend and doctor.I worked with him in the ER years ago and he gave me a stress test a little over a year ago and we laughed so hard about Chevy Chase's movie "Vacation." He will be missed by so many.

Dear Elaine, Daniel and Jennifer,
Your husband and father was one of the finest people I ever worked for 36 hours straight with. He was a shining light as a young man, a pillar of society as a physician and father and for my 94 year old mother -in-law...he was her Cardiologist ! She compared everyone else who saw her to Howie and none ever measured up. He will be sorely missed but fondly held in our hearts forever !

To The Kirshenbaums:
I transcribed the stress test results at Marlboro Hospital for Dr. Kirshenbaum. I used to complain to him after chasing him down to decipher his sometimes unintelligible handwriting. He'd say "I don't know why you can't read this" with a smirk on his face.
Now I wish we could all see his handwriting again.
My sincere sympathies to you all. Your husband and Dad was a wonderful man and a very caring physician. The hospital "family" and his patients will miss him dearly.
