I would visit with Howie a few times a year, but he always had time for me with a joke and funny stories. He helped me and my clients when he could. I adored him as a friend and I am so sorry that God took him from us so soon. I will miss him and but I carry his wonderful spirt with me. Elissa Millman

Howie was a friend if mine at Jesuit. I lost tract of him after high school graduation and a year in the Jesuit Seminary at Grand Coteau.
He was an excellent student and always had a smile on his face. I said a prayer for him in remembrance.

I was priviledged to work with Howie at the U.S. Attorney's Office in the 80's. He was a fine prosecutor and a better friend and person. My thoughts are with his family -

Meghan Matthew and Mark, I worked with your Dad at the U S Department of Justice's Strike Force Office. He was a topnotch attorney who could try a case using only notes he scribbled on 3 " x 5" index cards. I loved working with and for Howie. I am so sorry for your loss.

I became friends with Howie in the 1960s when we both went to Jesuit High School.
Howie is one of the few individuals that I have met in my lifetime journey on this planet that I have truly admired as an attorney and more importantly as a person.
He was an intelligent, gracious and compassionate human that exemplifies what everyone should strive for.
I met with him at his son's home in Shriever , La. 2 days before he passed away, and shared my sentiments with him ( although frankly, I am not sure he realized the full import of our meeting, as he drifted in and out of consciousness.) But he was not in pain and appeared to recognize me.
He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
May his soul and his spirit rest in eternal peace.

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
