I knew Father Brogan when I was a young Sailor stationed at Philadelphia. For two years he was my Pastor at the PNSY Chapel, and I learned so much from him in regard to Faith and service of country. I salute him on this Veteran´s Day for his service to God and Country- and sharing his wit and wonderful gift of Faith that still beckons to me after 35 years.

Father Hugh was a wonderful man. I met him when I was in the Naval Reserve in San Diego, working as a Hospital Corpsman at Balboa Naval Hospital. We were housemates in a large, old Spanish Revival house on Pt. Loma with several other Navy guys in 1974. Through him I met some wonderful Sisters of the Community of the Holy Spirit in Old Town San Diego. Sister Mary R Prose, Sister Beatrice de Regnier, Sister Joan, and many others. It was a lifetime ago yet seems like only yesterday. Hugh, along with these Sisters changed my life forever. He had the gift of making a person feel important, and blessed.
