It was with great sadness that I learned to-day of Hugh's recent passing. A little over a year or so ago was the last time I spoke with him. At that time we discussed our mutual leukemia conditions. Having worked with him in the OASIS directorate of PWGSC I can say that he was respected for his integrity and fine business sense by all those he came in contact with both in Government departments and the business community. He had a lively mind and fine sense of humour. I feel privileged to have known him and share in the sorrow of his family and friends.

Elaine and family, I just learn d of Hugh's passing. My deepest sympathies to you all. He was the second boss I had in DSS and was great to me. I still associate the term "and Bob's your uncle" with Hugh and I recall him openly expressing priority and love for his family - a positive lasting impression. "To live in the hearts of people is to never die."

Elaine, boys and family, I offer my heartfelt sympathy on your loss of Hugh. At our chance meeting last Wednesday, I mentioned that I had had the good fortune to have worked with Hugh at DSS/PWGSC. He was such a insightful, thoughtful, and kind person. He treated everyone with respect. I appreciate that I had the opportunity to work with/know him. I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Catherine McCarthy

Elaine, Stephen and Kevin,
Sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Hugh was 4 years ago at my retirement party and I has grateful and pleased that he could attend so that my adult children could finally meet the man that they had heard so much about over the years. Hugh was more than a boss. He was a mentor, friend, guidance counselor and a golfing buddy. I credit Hugh with getting me to where I am today by giving me a chance at work and believing in me. Rest in Peace my friend.

Sincerest condolences on the passing of Hugh. We worked together for many years and he was highly regarded for his demeanour, his knowledge and the respectful manner with which he treated everyone.
In trying to achieve his goal of breaking 100, we spent many a game together, but there were always too many holes where the score was a "snowman". It was a pleasure to have known Hugh both as a colleague and friend.
