Dolores de la Cerna is resting in peace. She passed away on Friday morning, April 15, 2011. She was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Stockton, CA and a long time resident of Santa Cruz County. She loved spending time with her family, bowling, walking, gardening, but most of all, she dearly loved her husband, Del, of 54 years who passed in 2000. Now they are together and will be missed immeasurably.
Dolores is survived by her 4 daughters, Donna, Darlene, Carmen and Rose, 2 sons Leo and Steve and pre-deceased by son George. She has 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dolores will be in our thoughts and hearts forever.
Friends are invited to attend a tribute for Dolores on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Santa Cruz Memorial-Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd., Santa Cruz.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Rotary Foundation-Polio Plus, c/o Rotary Club of Santa Cruz Sunrise, P.O. Box 7026, Santa Cruz, CA 95061

My Dearest Darlene and Larry,
Today marks three weeks since Mom passed. I have been searching for special words for the two of you ....
I have discovered that there are no words that can thank you enough for all you have done. You have sacrificed more than a decade of your lives to take care of Dad and Mom. You did what I could not do ....
Saying "I appreciate what you have done for Mom" is not enough. I just can't find the "over-the-top" words. The two of you have gone over and beyond the call of duty. You are phenomenol.
I love the two of you very much ... And I "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done".
Love,
Donna

We are so glad we had the opportunity to meet Dolores. She was a very strong and beautiful lady that we truly respected. We were always impressed by her athletic abilities: bowling and walking the up the hill to the house in her early 90's was truly amazing.
The quality of care given Dolores by her family and Larry during her time of need, made her passing a very peaceful moment. She would be proud of all of you that cared and tried to help her. She will be missed and never forgotten.
Darlene and Larry, you did an amazing job of giving Dolores a loving home surrounded with family and friends.
Though we can't be there during the memorial service, our hearts go out to you and your family during this time of loss. God Bless Dolores and may her memory live on forever.
