To the Mortons and Cece and the Cords,
I often used to see Hughes at Miramar beach, enthusiastically vanish into the horizon and then return on his SUP. He always had a friendly hello, and judging by the loving and highly complimentary messages and comments from family and his many friends he will certainy be well missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to Cece and James and Kaitlin, you are in my prayers and I will think of Hughes and you all when I visit that Miramar Beach that Hughes enjoyed so often.

Today through mutual friends I was informed of the passing of Hughes. I'm so shocked and saddend and hope his young family can get through this tough time. Hughes was such a great guy! My heart breaks for you Cece, Duke and Mary Glad, and the rest of the Family.I met Hughes about 9 years ago while we stopped at his home planning Jenny's Birthday Party. He was kind and friendly to me. After having lost my Mom in May, I understand the grieve and saddness you feel at this time and my prayer for all of you is that you find peace in time, and reflect on all the Love you shared together. May God Bless you and keep you all close to him.

Our hearts go out to the Morton and Cord families. Hughes was great guy, laid back, easy going, with a great smile. We went to USC together but my brother (Darren), myself and the rest our family really had the honor to get to know Hughes through the Cords. So we are really saddened by this loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families. God Bless.

Although it's been years since I've seen Hughes, I have many memories of our childhood in LA. I'm especially remembering some teenage adventures involving Hughes and my brother John...
My thoughts go out to the entire Morton family and to everyone who loved him.

Hughes was a kind and good man, always giving of himself to friends, family and charitable groups. I treasure my memories of him at Holister Ranch, with Bill Swartley and at the Santa Barbara Bowl "Backstage at the Bowl". His smile radiated the room. I send my condolences to CeCe and his family. You are all very loved. I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time.

Hughes was a good man - patient, kind, and considerate.
Depression can be a formidable foe. May Hughes' battle teach us well to help those who fight it.

I have very fond memories of growing up with Hughes in H.P., including our years at Third Street and playing Little League at Ahmanson. Hughes and I lost touch during high school and became re-acquainted while we were both at 'SC.
My wife, Missy, (also from H.P.), is Mary's age and we both have fond memories with all three Morton kids (Hughes, Mary, and Duke). I also have fond memories of Duke playing Little League in the Majors and of us working together on Larchmont at W. Fed.
Missy and I are so saddened to hear of the very sad news of Hughes' passing. On the happier side, it certainly sounds like his entire family can be very proud of all the accomplishments Hughes successfully achived before leaving for the Heavens. Our warmest wishes go out to Mrs. Morton, Duke, Mary, Hughes' wife and children, his in-laws, and all of his relatives, as well as all of his friends, and all of those who knew and cared for him. As you grieve the sadness of his loss, remember to keep a smile on your face and in your hearts as you reflect on all of the many excellent memories we're confident you have to share with each other. Very best wishes to you all.
Sincerely,
Scott Torrence
