I remember meeting Pastor Hugo and Connie at the Best Western welcome wagon open house. After meeting him I felt better about moving back home. I knew right away he would make a great pastor. I remember telling my family I just met the new pastor of Sardis Community Church, even before he officially became pastor. My thoughts and prayers are with Connie and their family. He will be missed.

My first assignment as pastor here in Harrison, Hugo taps me on the shoulder and offers to meet with me. He has been my mentor. I miss our monthly coffee together. Prayer, encouragement, talking life, love, and family... oh and bit of pastoring too. Thank-you Connie for having us to your home and for being a part of our start in ministry. Hugo is one of my heroes. We'll keep praying for you Connie!

the Tues following Hugo's return home from the rehab place; It was a cold Nov or early Dec morning @ 8AM Connie drove Hugo to our prayer group{ which Hugo started when he came to Sardis] to pray for the church. He had gloves and a took cos it was cold. We all wept to see him there. He had a hard time seeing, speaking and walking yet came to pray for us. We will miss him very much.

It is with great sadness that I read about Hugo's death. He was a wonderful community model here in Vanderhoof and did much for the young people who came in contact with him through the school community as well as through the church. He will be remembered with great love and respect. My thoughts are with you and your family. Charlene Seguin

Connie and family, Hugo will certainly be missed by many. I had very opportunities to interact with him, but those I did have showed me a man that was easy to like, loved his wife and family, in fact sincerely cared for everyone around him. He was ALWAYS smiling.:-)
He has left an amazing legacy behind through his ministry, but most importantly through his children and grandchildren, and no doubt his memory will never be forgotten.
Special Blessings to your family, as Hugo has certainly been a blessing to so many.

We are so sorry for your loss and remember Hugo with great admiration. He lived true. That is to be admired and strived for by each of us. The legacy he left is quite extra ordinary.

July 18, 2014

One of my friend's in Vanderhoof posted Hugo's obituary an it wasn't until then that I realized I myself knew Hugo and his family from being a patient with Hugo last year at Laurel Place.Ironic how small the world is and very grateful to have crossed paths with such an awesome man. Connie, Rinette you left such a lasting great sense of family love and support in my heart and yet your whole family opened your hearts for other patients as well. Thinking of you Connie and Reimer family and praying for some extra strength to help you thru this difficult time. Sincerley sorry for your loss.

There is a hole in the universe . . . a man I respect deeply has left this world far too soon. A man who told himself the truth & was willing to carry the weight of that truth in kindness to himself and others. His kindness to me at a truly terrible time in my life will always be remembered.

I wish you a million kindnesses for the journey ahead.

I still remember my and my husbands meetings with Hugo before he married us. We laughed a lot and he gave us some great advice and exercises we could do together to help prepare us for marriage. We're still married. Hugo was kind and soft spoken and I am saddened for his families loss. Even though, you, his family know you'll be together again one day, I pray you'll have strength to get through the tough days of missing him. Sending love.

Dear Connie and family,
I was informed today that Hugo had passed away. My heart is so full of sadness, but on the other hand, at peace knowing that he is filling heaven with his zest for life and his love of the Lord. He was a perfect example of "a good shepherd" of his flock. He was the most "REAL" pastor I have ever known. I will greatly miss him. I am so blessed to have been able to see him one last time only a month or so ago. Love and prayers to your family.

We are so sorry for your huge loss. I used to love hearing his sermon at NCC. He always added humor.
His youth ministry here made such a difference in so many lives that his Love of God is still growing in so many of them.
I wish I could give you all a big hug.
Lean on those around you and know that Hugo is watching over you now.

I am originally from Vanderhoof and every time I ran into Hugo whether it be at school, a wedding or him being a customer coming through my cash register, he was always a pleasure to be around and you could definitely tell he had a love for people. Hugo's Love for our family, church, and everyone shone through no matter what. Praising God, being thankful in all circumstances! He has and will impact countless people and generations. His harvest was 100 fold for the Lord. To live is Christ to die is gain.

So sadden at the lost of Hugo, I met him often at Cowboy Church at NCC in Vanderhoof. He always had a welcoming smile and an encouraging word. You will be missed. Hugo also performed the outdoor wedding service for one of our daughters. You are in the arms of Jesus now.

Connie - I am sorry to hear of your great loss. Heather and I will continue to pray for you and your family.

I got to know Hugo through his speaking ministry at Ness Lake Bible Camp while I served there as Director (2000 - 2011). Hugo spent a week at camp almost every summer. He always had a big smile on his face when he greeted kids at camp, and he was much loved as the Speaker and a member of our community. Hugo did a great job of making God's love known, and he always made scripture come alive when he told stories about Jesus. Many, many kids came to faith as a result of Hugo's ministry at camp over the years. Even after he left Vanderhoof, Hugo made the trek north to speak at Ness Lake (somehow people from the lower mainland tend to think it is easier for folks from the north to drive south to visit than it is for them to drive north!! Hugo wasn't one of those people...). Hugo also loved to water ski, and he always enjoyed getting behind a Ski Nautique while he was at camp.

I thank God for Hugo's friendship and for his faithful service in ministry throughout his life. He will be missed!

Dear Reimer Family: I first met brother Hugo at Ootsa Lake Bible Camp in 1998 when I was Camp Director and he came to speak one week. His love for the Lord and deep desire to share his Jesus with others was obvious. It was an extreme blessing to visit with him again this past February when we came to SCC to share about Granisle Church Of The Way and Jesus Camp. To sit with him, still hear his heart for Jesus despite his illness and pain touched me deeply and I was honoured to pray with him and Mrs. Reimer. You have been in our prayers since we first heard Hugo was sick, and even more so now. Greive well. May you find the time, space, people and resources to do so. If I or our church can help, please let me know by emailing [email protected].
