I graduated from USAFA a long time ago. Though I didn't know Hunter, I know many parts of what he went through to gain entrance into both the Prep School and the Academy. He did well in life; the comments here demonstrate it, too! I'll vouch that his death reverberated among graduates throughout the world even among classes from long ago. I believe most any one of us would have helped Hunter had we known of something we could do. Speaking as one, I feel robbed that none of us had the chance to help Hunter.
May each of your extended family find support from others among you when needed and supply such support when others among you need it!

I remember Hunter vividly. Walking Presley into my classroom each day before school. Smiling. Giving her a hug and making sure she was good for the day. Presley looked at him with pure love. The same as he looked at her. He was love. Even to this teacher who simply saw him walk his little sister to class each day. He exuded love. Dearest Presley my heart is with that sweet little girl I met so many years ago. Prayers and love.

Remembering Hunter and his family and friends today and always. I am so thankful that he became a part of our lives through he and my son being preppies together at the AF Academy Prep School and football team. He was very special to my son and therefore our entire family. He and my son were born on the same day just hours apart. Hunter will never be forgotten.

When the game is over and we’ve left it all on the field, the Brotherhood gathers in our little corner of the end zone, with our faithful few, to sing the 3rd verse of the Air Force song:
“Here's a toast to the host
Of those who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend, we send,
A message of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then down we roar,
To score the rainbow's pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast,
The U.S. Air Force!”
Here’s a toast to you and yours, brother!
Much love,
Paul Mayo ‘03 (Prep School ‘99)

I never knew this precious young man but will forever feel he is a part of me.
My son and I were on the plane that brought his earthly remains to Houston last night. The flight was an hour late due to a medical emergency before we even left the ground in Denver.
I Googled to find out who the cadet was that we were told about. I saw his beautiful smile in articles written about him and know he will forever be in my heart.
God bless you, his family and friends.
