Hunter NIXON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14, 2014.
NIXON, Hunter Hunter Nixon, age 23 of John Creek Georgia, died tragically in an automobile accident on November 8, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Peachtree Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mark Crumpler officiating. Robert Hunter Nixon was born on August 13, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia and he was the bright shining light of our lives. He graduated from Johns Creek High School in 2010 and studied at Georgia Southern University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity. Hunter packed so much in his short life of 23 years...if he decided to learn something new he would work at it and practice until he could actually be good at it...example..when he was little he really could not dance...but he would get in front of the mirror with his favorite music (Usher when he was young) and he found his rhythm and became a awesome dancer. He loved to play the guitar and decided to teach himself...he then added singing to his passion and as you can ask his friends he would sing his heart out even when he wasn't the best. As time went on he actually became better!! We are giggling right now thinking about the rough beginning times of his short music career. Hunter LOVED movies...all kinds of movies and he got that love from his Dad. Many of his friends would tell you that he was quite the philosopher...he read dozens of inspirational books and would try to uplift his friends with the messages he gained from his readings. Hunter spent many of his earlier years playing baseball and his Father will always cherish the many years he coached Hunter and his friends in baseball. He was an exceptional snow skier and other loves and talents included skateboarding, wakeboarding and most of all spear fishing in the Bahamas...he LOVED the Bahamas and shared his love with many of his buddies that came to visit with him. Hunter had the biggest heart and we will never be able to fill the emptiness in our hearts from his loss. It has been said that God does not take people away from us, he receives them...Sometimes a soul grows so full of love that it becomes too much for this world and its only resolve is a heavenly host can hold it. We believe this is true of our beautiful boy Hunter Nixon. Hunter's heart was so full of love and he shared it freely with all he came in contact with. His love for his girlfriend he always referred to as "my Andie" is hard to describe...he cherished and enveloped her with the most complete and amazing unconditional love. Hunter is survived by his parents, Kathy and Bruce Nixon; his devoted girlfriend Andie Strangi; sister Natalie Nixon, sister Heather DeFoor and brother-in-law Wesley DeFoor, brother Ryan Nixon; grandmother Nancy Zebrak (Nana) and her partner Clifford Winkfield, grandmother Catherine Nixon (Grandma), and grandfather M.L. Zebrak; uncles and aunts Janice and Brian Williams, Rick and Rhonda Zebrak, Mike Nixon, and Sean Smith; cousins Brandon and Sarah Williams; nieces and nephews Morgan, Courtney, and Whitney DeFoor, Olivia Mahony, and Taylor and Tristan Nixon. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Hunter's honor to Cumberland Academy, (a school for special needs children) 650-A Mt. Vernon Hwy, Atlanta GA 30328 or www.cumberlandacademy.org. First time we met Hunter was at the bus stop at Castle Pines in St Ives when he was in middle school. A polite, handsome young man with a special smile. We will never forget the day he came to our home and did his Cutco Presemtation -- nervous BUT driven, positive and articulate with his delivery. We didn't necessarily need all of the Cutco products that we purchased -- but we couldn't say NO! A memory forever in our lives. We are truly sorry for your loss on many levels. God called him home for a reason - he is an angel. Our Love to you all - Victoria, Skip, Blake Moore and family.

Although I did not have the privilege of knowing Hunter personally, I knew his loving parents and know from their stories that he was a shining light wherever he went and whomever he touched. Although we will never fully understand God's plan, I pray we can lean on HIS amazing love and comfort during this incredibly difficult time...and am praying for peace and strength hourly for you all right now and for many days to come until you all see your beautiful angel again. My favorite memory of Hunter is the tennis match this summer in which Hunter and Z played against Kathy and me. He had us in stitches the entire time! Despite the fact that he hardly ever plays tennis, he and Z wiped us off the court and we play all the time. He was such a normal part of my family's lives, that we can already feel a big void! He was good friends with every one of my children and with Pat and me! He had that personality that can be friends with everyone, no matter their age or background. We were blessed to be among his group of friends. Bruce and Kath, we love you and we loved him! Someday we will all be together in a better place.

Hunter was such a BRIGHT light in our family's lives! We will never forget all the mornings he came by to carpool to Northview with Bess and Thomas. He had such sweet smiles and "thanks" for the sausage-egg breakfast sandwiches I'd send out to him so early in the mornings. Always felt his presence as somewhat of a protector when they were all together. Hunter had such a solid quality about his spirit.....gentle and deeply intelligent.

He was a wonderful friend to Bess, and no more so than the time they spent at Greater Atlanta Christian, when they had both just transferred in. One day, carpooling home from GACS I suggested that we go by Tom senior's new office to organize and move some furniture. Hunter jumped into the task with an impressive enthusiasm. I remember thinking "that's the extra mile the famous adage refers to!" "How did he get that quality at such a young age?" :) I had tremendous admiration for Kathy and Bruce that they had produced such a boy of integrity.

I was flattered that he called me for an appointment to hone his sales presentation for CUTCO.....he was articulate, organized and had what my husband refers to as the big "C"s on his shoulders (for Confidence) I will treasure those Scissors forever:) So thankful that God is Good.... and gave us our time with Hunter. We will be so happy to see his smiling face again when we reach Home. "The Soul's Anchor is the Hope of Heaven"
