It was indeed so sad to read of Ian's passing. What a stalwart of the Toronto jazz scene Ian was. We're going to miss you.

We wish Ian's family and friends all the strength to deal with this sudden loss.

So sorry to hear of the sad news.
I have happy memories from the old days in Falkirk, Scotland when we used to "gig" around together. From a fellow pianist.

My condolences to you, Wendy, and your family. Ian was the consummate pianist, and could swing his tail off. I had forgotten about the benefit that Richard mentioned. I called him to do a benefit and he answered gruffly, "I don't do benefits!" Well, he did 5 or 6 for me alone and not a complaint.

It is hard to imagine that music can go on without the likes of Ian Bargh. It was my great honour to call him a dear friend for decades, and to play with him on many occasions in the past.

He was a one of a kind, and we will miss him greatly.

To Wendy and family,

Feel no guilt in laughter, he'd know how much you care

Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He'd hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.

A very fine musician and human being. My favourite pianist: melodic and inventive. He and Jack McFadden generously played at a benefit dinner for the Te Deum Orchestra & Singers at Lo Presti's Restaurant in Hamilton twenty-five-or-so years ago.

Ian was a very supportive and important mentor to me when I first moved to Toronto. He graciously invited me to join him at Trader's on occasion that Jim wasn't there and I learned a lot from playing with him (and Jerry Fuller) in those days. On time I was playing at some function with Ian and the hostess came over to ask us to play more quietly. Ian, in full voice and with a twinkle in his eye looked right at her and said "ah, a real music lover I see!!!!" . I always appreciated Ian's forthrightness as well as his musicianship. I'd like to send my sincere condolences to his family.

Ian was a wonderful musician and an outstanding contributor, to what was and is great, about the Toronto Jazz Scene. He will be sadly missed.

Ian had fun with words and fun with a piano. He was a sparkplug for the Friday get-to-gethers for the "jazz guys" at the Imperial. We miss him, as do the thousands of people he played for over the decades.
