Dearest Shawn, Lydia, Jennifer, and Family, we are so deeply saddened by the loss of Ian. Even though we never had the pleasure of meeting Ian, we felt as though we knew him. We also know you were very proud of Ian's accomplishments, especially those as a pilot. All of you are in our hearts and prayers. We love you.

I am so sorry for this deep, terrible loss. Ian was such a tremendous force- I remember it was impossible to be sad around him, it is really hard to imagine he’s gone.
I met Ian in 2003 when he was helping his sister and me move in to a house together in DC. I was so amazed and impressed by how helpful and giving he was- traits that are not typical of most early 20-something men! I could tell it gave him great joy to help us out and he enjoyed my marveling at his strength- carrying furniture up 3 flights of stairs with one hand! I had never seen such a loving sibling. My brother lived in the same city and would have sooner had a root canal than help his little sister and her friend.
I wanted to go to the brother store and swap out my brother for Ian! So to me he was always Bro Bro and I was Claire Bear to him.
This is such a heartbreaking time. I am keeping Jen, their family and Ian’s loved ones in my heart, my thoughts and even several prayers here and there, every day. Wishing healing for everyone as Ian leaves a mighty absence.

Ian was like a second son to us. He was a friend of our son while they both lived in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. He came on many vacations with us and was a comical guy, always laughing and had a calm, soothing way about himself. He was a loving son to Lydia and Shawn and the best brother to his sister, Jenny. He always had the most respect for us and felt we were like his second parents. This is a shock to us to hear of his passing. Surely has his special set of wings. Our condolences to Lydia, Shawn and Jenny, We too share in your loss. A piece of our heart has gone with him. We loved Ian so very much and will miss hearing his voice. Rest in peace, Ian. Soar high until we meet again. You will always be in our hearts.....
