Ian HALLMAN Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Mar. 31 to Apr. 2, 2012.
HALLMAN, Ian Leonard
Passed away peacefully March 23, 2012 at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer. He suffered little and for this we are grateful. Ian is survived by his partner Elaine, son Dan (Vaile), daughters Diane and Judy (Ian), brother David, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nephews and nieces. A special thank you to dad's caregivers at VGH and Marion's Hospice. Dad you were loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.

Where do I find the words to tell you how much I miss you. You were everything to me... you still are. You did so much for me... we had so much fun! We played pool together. You would pick me up on your route when you drove a truck. You would take me to your work when you would work on Saturdays and I remember playing with the typewriters and calculators... ha ha You drove me around to my friends houses, even North Van to visit Tracey after she moved. You took me to Dairy Queen when I was sad. You stuck up for me when Mom was mad at me. You were always there for me. It's hard to get used to that you aren't around anymore. I want to pick up the phone to talk about the Canucks... I catch myself then think how much I miss you. I was so proud that you were my Dad.... again I still am. I love you Dad.

Dad you taught me so many things. I'll never forget the first time you took me to trout lake and I put my ice skates on for the first time..I was hooked. You took me when I was in Gr. 9 to get my first pair of glasses, and let me get the tinting, I loved those ugly damn things. You taught me how to drive, and I got hooked on that too. You helped me buy my first car, a 1970 cherry red Maverick...and years later taught me standard after I bought that 1978 Honda accord . lol You came to sit with me in the truck while I was in labor with Shaun and comforted me. You were the first one to show me an 8track...a Ringo Starr one at that. lol. You drove me anywhere I wanted to go and I never appreciated it enough. You spent a lot of time with Shaun when he was growing up and he adored you. I thankyou for spending your down time by taking Shaun overnite for a sleepover. It helped clear my mind and rejuvenate me. I remember driving you crazy the nights Mom went to bingo. We'd beg you until you gave in and made us fudge. God you were the coolest. The truth is I loved you for a lot of different reasons, and I thankyou for being there for me . Love you Dad and give Mom a huge hug and a kiss from me. xxx
