MACASKILL, Ian Stewart On June 12, 2007 Ian Stewart Macaskill Sr. passed away at the age of 79. Ian is predeceased by sons Ian Jr., Angus and Douglas Macaskill. Grandchildren, Kelly and Cole Peterson. Twin sisters, Kay Palmer and Jean Blondin. Ian is survived by his loving companion Joan Rutherford, daughter Katherine Peterson, grandchildren, Kristine Peterson, Tyler Macaskill and Ryan Macaskill. Ian was born in Detroit, Michigan U.S.A and moved to Edmonton as a young child. At the young age of 16 Ian enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas with the Royal Canadian Naval. His adult years were devoted working for the Canadian Government in the Department of Transport. Ian was Airport Manager of various airports across Canada. In his later years Ian was an active member of the Strathcona Legion and devotedly worked with Veterans Housing. Ian will be remembered for his extraordinary leadership and generosity to his causes. Ian's family would like to thank hospital and staff of Unit 53 a Grey Nun's Hospital for their kindness and special care given to Ian and family. In keeping with expressed wishes, no formal service will be held. Family and friends are asked to please remember Ian, as they knew him in their own special way.
