Deepest condolences to the Mackley family on the loss of a really good bloke. Ian was a most cheerful individual who represented his country well both as a soldier in the Korean war and later when he returned to Korea as a veteran. I remember him as a warm and a modest person who was impossible not to like.
In sympathy

The Canterbury Korea Veterans Association send their deepest sympathy to Averil and family on the passing of Ian. To us he was a wonderful comrade and who later served the New Zealand Korea Veterans Association with distinction.
