I met Ian when he and I were both employees of Grant Security Services, in the mid '70's, here in Ottawa. He supervised the guard staff at the Air Museum, I believe. Although we didn't connect often during the intervening years, our conversations were always very warm and interesting. Ian was very well known in professional security circles for his vast knowledge of security, which he shared without reservation. He will be missed.

Sad news indeed. Ian Munro was the supervisory officer for my flying scholarship course at St-Jean Que. in 1975. I was late to go solo but Ian kept me on the course. Per Ardua ad Astra. He died far too soon. I shall toast his life with a glass of fine single malt. J. Kelly Spence CD CIC Air.

I remember Ian at 51 Sqn in Ottawa. I was with 211, 832 and 706 in Ottawa. I later met him at the CWHM where we both volunteered. I'm very sorry to see him gone and ask that his family draw comfort from his success in life. My condolences to the Munro's.

Ian will be deeply missed. It should be no surprise that he knew many people from many walks of life. I knew him through his younger brother John, but grew to know him as a friend. Our shared interest in aviation kept us in touch. I regret I never got to attend an airshow with Ian. Heart felt wishes for family & friends.
