Your mom was such a sweet-spirited woman and one whose love for Christ, his church, and her family was paramount. We know you will miss her deeply. We´re so sorry for your loss.

Ilene and Walt, "Mom-mom & Pop-pop" to our boys, have been the family I never had for the past 25 years. Ilene was also a mentor, a friend, an encourager and exhorter. So many bits of her live on in me, as in hundreds of others...
In her home on Sioux Drive there was a note on the back of the upstairs bathroom door. It read: "Life is 10% what happens to you, 90% how you respond." Ilene exemplifiied this in such a Christ-like manner through so many tough times. Through losses, sicknesses & other difficulties, she used all her strength to glorify God. I thank God for allowing me the chance to be in America and drive to PA to spend one last day with her, Thursday just before she passed. I asked her about many things, including her time in the hospital. She responded to learning that she had cancer - again (this time, surely it would mean her earthly end) - she responded by encouraging the aides and orderlies in their seemingly menial tasks. She told them that God sees them, and that their labor is valuable, and that she appreciates them. Two of these individuals were so touched by her kind words that they returned to speak with her after their shifts were over.
This.
This is a life well-lived.
In what would be a dark time for most, Ilene was shedding this life with grace and dignity, offering eternal Hope to those in her sphere.
May we all aspire to such a faith.
My heart is aching, and I am in tears.
The loss is great. Because the love is great and her impact and influence have been great.
I can only imagine how much more difficult this time must be for Walt, and for his kids and grands and greats.
My heart aches with and for them all.
But not for Ilene.
No, not for her....
