Thank you everyone for your comments and gestures. Rudi, those years on Sanibel and Captiva were undoubtedly some of the best and most proud of her life. She was an extraordinary woman and I miss her dearly and think of her all the time.

Scriptions and Nepissaries

My sister Ingrid (within the family, she was always Kitten) was a dear sister and a woman of many talents and accomplishments. She could be difficult at times, but she was always loving, generous and thoughtful. She had a great sense of humor that was sometimes just plain goofy. At the particular time I am thinking of we were perhaps four and five.

Our father was a director and producer of radio and television in the pioneering days of broadcasting. He would always come home at night with an armload of scripts to read, evaluate and comment on for suitability for use on one of the many shows he was working on. He also always had a secretary. From these two facts, which were about all we knew at the time of his work, Kitten, mangling the language as children will, came up with the terms scriptions (from scripts) and nepissaries (from secretaries). We had no bound sheets of paper to carry around as he did, so we cut up scraps of paper (it kept us busy) and put them in a shoe box to carry around. We called them our "Scriptions and Nepissaries"

Kitten thought up the idea of propping the shoe box filled with the paper scraps over a partially open door and waiting for someone to walk in only to get showered with the confetti. It never happened, but our plan was to be there when it did happen and then gleefully shout out "Bird bath." What that phrase had to do with anything, I don't remember. Where it came from, I have no idea, but to say it, even years later would send us both into fits of laughter.

Kitten was a fun loving and mischievous delight and I will miss her greatly.
