Inocencia Nieves Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 30 to Mar. 31, 2023.
Inocencia Nieves,90, of Wilmington Delaware passed away at her residents suddenly due to complication from CHF, which she had been dealing with this past year. Inocencia had been hospitalized several times due to her illness, and proved time and time again that she was a fighter and stronger than anyone thought. She spent as much time as possible with her loved ones and on her final day she enjoyed meeting one of her newest great granddaughters for the first time and unfortunately did not get to meet the youngest one. She was loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she loved and adored as well.

Inocencia was born in Jala, Nayarit Mexico on January 1, 1933, to Maura Nieves. Her mother passed away when she was still young, so she was raised by various family members until she decided to set off on her own to live an adventurous life. At a youthful age she would enjoy adventure with her cousin Alma. They would go test drive cars and set off on a day of fun and return the car that evening. She had various jobs which she had fond memories of like traveling with the circus, dancer, lounge singer until she met and married Hipolito Rivera Villafane. Then she set off to the east coast and stayed with family until she was able to purchase a home in the 1971. She worked as a seamstress at several companies before retiring.

Ino was an amazing and loving mom to Lourdes, Marilyn, Charlie, and Mary, leaving lasting memories. She enjoyed being with her family and returning to Mexico to spend time with her family there as well. She loved cooking and listening to her music. And she enjoyed getting a good laugh when others tried her homemade hot sauce. She enjoyed going to casinos and playing her daily lottery numbers. She loved to go on road trips and find new restaurants to enjoy seafood. In her later years you could find her lying on the sofa watching her telenovelas or listening to Elvis. She enjoyed playing games with all her grand and great grandchildren.

Ino leaves behind to cherish her memories to her daughters Lourdes (George) Greenfield, Marilyn Cullifer, Mary (Antonio) Glover and one son Charlie (Donne) Villafane, her grandchildren Talina (Ryan Straub) Greenfield, Amanda (John) Troiani, Ashley (Dave) Snead, Cassandra Villafane, Shaylyn (Pape Ndiaye) Coleman, Juanita (Dan) Buchanan, Courtney Villafane, Georgina Greenfield, Jordan (Kenny Zell) Bascone, and Te'Airra Glover, along with her great grandchildren Jada, Mackenzie, Jasmine, Parker, Benita Pari, Jolene, Charley, Nora, Ameena and Alanya whom unfortunately she didn't get to meet. Her sister Genoveva Perez Nieves, and her cousin Alma Nieves and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Inocencia is preceded in death by her mother Maura Nieves, and her brother Jose Nieves.

Dear Grandma ,

I searched and searched for something to sum up how I feel about you but nothing could capture the amount of love I felt for you or how badly i am going to miss you.
I will miss walking in to your room every now and then saying "guess what" and you saying what and me telling you "my birthday is in 8 months, 9 months, etc.".
Im going to miss the look you gave me when mom would say something crazy and me and you would look at eachother and raise our eyebrows like "oh well" .
Im going to miss your hugs because you always hugged me tighter to soak in all the love but most of all I´m going to miss you on one of the most important days of my life - My wedding .
I can say I am so so so happy that you got to see my wedding dress and that you saw who I am going to marry. I remember coming home from my first date and you asking what he looked like and I said "he has blue eyes and blonde hair" and you said "He´s the one ! Keep him" ....
I love you so much but I know you´re going to be with me throughout everything in my life and I hear you in my heart every morning and night when I say "goodnight/good morning grandma, I love you". I promise I´ll make you proud

Just as I have always remembered the date 01/01/1933. The date 03/26/2023 , time 9:33 will forever be in my memory. It was the date my whole world changed, the light went out for me, my heart stopped beating for what seemed an eternity. The date I knew that I would never hear "hello baby " on this earth again. I have been away from you before, but I always knew I could find my way home to you. You were the light that lit my way. You were my best friend, my confidant, my travel buddy and my mother. I am lost without you. I got my strength from you. Your light showed me the way. I will look to the stars now for your light. Because I know you are shining bright in heaven as you did here on earth. I will forever love you mommy

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you and whispered,
Come to me.

With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
And although we loved you dearly,
We couldn't make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove us,
He only takes the best.

I'll miss you my beautiful grandma
Love - Mandie
