Ione Augusta Goltz Hunziker
Dec. 15, 1926 - Sept. 2, 2010
Ione Augusta Goltz Hunziker, age 83, passed away peacefully in Stockton on September 2, 2010.
Ione was born December 15, 1926, in Balaton, Minnesota to Robert and Pauline Goltz. She was the youngest of 12 children, and the last remaining sibling. When she was 12 years old, the family moved to Rio Linda, California where she lived until her marriage in 1945, to Samuel H. Hunziker. While most of their years were spent in Stockton, they lived for a brief period in Pleasanton and Lodi.
Sam and Ione are survived by their five children; Paula Azeltine of Walnut Creek, Judith Renberg of Arnold, Conrad Hunziker, II of Lodi, Janet Rowlett of Lodi, Meridith Zomalt of Walnut Creek; daughter-in-law, Dianne Hunziker of Rio Vista and son-in-law, Gary Zomalt of Walnut Creek. They also have 11 grandchildren: Kelly Warnke, Kim Kunkel, Todd Renberg, Conrad Hunziker, III, Aaron Pottichen, Tritia Moneypenny, Brian Hoagland, Mark Hunziker, Kristin Pottichen, Ryan Pottichen, Jennifer Styles and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ione was a woman of faith, devoted wife and mother, church organist and pianist, Sunday School teacher, Executive Secretary, excellent seamstress, avid gardener, had a very quick wit and great sense of humor. Whatever she was to each of us will remain. We will speak to her in the same way and laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. We will continue to pray, smile and think of her as we always have. She is not here, but she is near, and she is at peace in her eternal home.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 808 W. Porter Avenue, in Stockton on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dear Hunziker Clan, We were saddened to hear that Ione has completed her earthly journey. It was a good one! What a joy and comfort to know she is making heavenly music with the Lord and probably Sam is singing with her. Our sympathy to all of you at this very bittersweet time in your lives. Wish we could be there to give ya'll a hug.

The first thing I thought about when I heard Ione had gone to be with our Lord was her laughter. She laughed a lot and was always happy. She enjoyed life and lived it well. She was a great wife and mother, and Aunt. We have missed her for a while (because of her illness) and our thoughts of her will continue.
Our hearts go out to the family (our cousins) who will miss her even more. May God give you His Peace and the joy of knowing she is happy and with our Lord.

Good Morning Hunzikers: My mother enjoyed your mother, whenever they had a chance to talk or to be together. The Goltz reunion in Balaton back in 1970, will forever be a milestone for memories of the entire family. May you feel the peace and love from our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ at this time of sadness and reflection which will mainly come through scripture reading and your prayers of faith.. No doubt she is enjoying her reunion with Sam and her siblings and other departed friends in that great world of spirits which is nearby. Perhaps in the future, if not already, you will be blessed to feel her presence and help. Now she can look forward to the resurrection with a perfected mind and body. Be at peace, Leo Robert (Leo & Gladys' son)
P.S. Please send me hard copies of the obituary and the funeral program, so I can put them with the family history. My mailing address is: Leo R. Lindquist 1851 US Highway 14 Balaton, MN 56115-3200
