Iren MERTZ Obituary
On May 9, 2014, Irén passed away with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Ferenc (Frank); children: Fred (Christina), (Lorie), Maria (Bruce), Irene (Blaine); grandchildren: Bryce (Theresa), Candace (Joseph), Everett, Samantha (Riley), Leah, Lucas, Vanessa, Amanda, Emma, Sarah, and great-grandchild, Colten. She will be welcomed by her son, Sylvester who she has missed so much. Irén was born on July 30, 1934 in Tatabanya, Hungary. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband and eldest son Fred. Her strong will, warm heart and loving hands created a beautiful life for her family. We will miss her dearly! Memorial donations in Irén's name may be made directly to the Foothills Hospital Cardiac ICU (c/o Calgary Health Trust, Suite 800, 11012 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, AB, T2J 3N2). Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mountain View Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Committal to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. I had just by chance ran into Irene and her family at a Oilers game in March of this year and was quite shocked to read about her death. She was a very warm, caring person and will be remembered by the staff at Redwater Health Care Centre as a friendly cook in the kitchen. Condolences to all the family Jeannie Hare
