Boris Pukay Obituary
Born on Jan. 1, 1927, to John and Anna Pukay in Yorkville, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where he received his bachelor of science in 1950, and was a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity and Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from Ohio State University medical School in Columbus.
From 1969 until his retirement in 1995, Dr. Pukay operated his family medical practice, serving the community at 21 E. Main Street in Mystic, where he also resided with his wife, Emogene and family. Dr. Pukay also served as the state medical examiner for New London County for many years.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Pukay is survived by his sister, Zenovia of Berkley, Mich. and ten of his eleven children, Kenny Pukay of Louisville, Ky., Mike Pukay of Twinsburg, Ohio, Becky Fuchs of Raleigh, N.C., Steven Pukay of Baton Rouge, La., Cheryl Brennan of Pawcatuck, Randy Pukay of Bucksport, Maine, Valerie Gingerella of Westerly, Melanie Deak of Cranston, R.I., Vaughn Pukay of Norwich, Christine Bilobram of Sandown, N.H.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 23, at St. Mark's Church, Mystic.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ohio State Medical Center Memorial Fund (Fund # 303998) 660 Ackerman Road, P.O. Box 183-112, Columbus OH 43218-3112.
The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic is assisting the family.

Dear Cousins,
It was a shock to hear about Uncle Boris's sudden death. Flowers and card sent to Jean at the house. Glad that kin will come together even on this sad occasion. Attached is a photo of Boris, his mother (Anna) & sister (Zenovia) from during the WWII years. Bill & John Courtney bringing Boris's sister Zenovia to the memorial service on Friday and cousin Michael Pukay. Take extra care during this grieving time. To Jean and family of Dr. Pukay . . please accept my sincere condolences to you all on the loss of your husband and father. I was Dr. Pukay's first patient when he came to Mystic and my two sons also. I was so devastated when he retired but of course he deserved some rest. I have fond memories of Jean and the doctor and will always remember their kindness.
