Irene C. Floyd

Irene C. Floyd, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She was born in Cochran, Georgia; the second oldest of five children born to the union of the late Lelia and Willie Collins, Sr. She was educated in Georgia. She lived in Miami, Florida before moving to Syracuse in 1966. She was a longtime member of Ephesus Tabernacle COGIC, where she was over the Pastor's Aide and served on the Mother's Board. She was formerly employed as a Nurse's Aide at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Jewish Home until retiring 1986. She enjoyed participating in church activities and functions, fishing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dec James Floyd; one daughter, Runnette Collins; one son, Johnny Floyd; one sister, Cleo Hunlen and two brothers, Eugene (Evelyn) and George Collins.

Mother Irene C. Floyd leaves to mourn her passing, cherish her memory and celebrate her life, five children, Zeddie Collins (Glenda) of Hawkinsville, GA; Carol Greene of Syracuse, Robert Floyd (Tina) of Spartanburgh, SC, Regina Floyd of Greensboro, NC and Leonard Floyd of Syracuse; two brothers, Willie Lee Collins of Hawkinsville, GA; and Arthur Lee Collins (Inez) of Syracuse; one uncle, one aunt; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; loving in-laws, nieces, including Dominique Collins, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be Friday 11 a.m to noon at Living Water COGIC, 121 Huron St, with service to follow at noon. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
