Irene Minter Obituary

ROCK PORT, Mo. Irene I. Minter, Rock Port, the daughter of H. Clyde and Bertha N. (Wright) Thompson was born Nov. 15, 1910, in Mound City, Mo. Irene passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Community Hospital Association, Fairfax, Mo., at the age of 96 years.
She graduated from Mound City High School in 1928.
Then Irene was employed by the H.P. Green Firebrick Co. in Mexico, Mo.; Missouri Service in Rock Port and later by Quaker Oats in St. Joseph.
On June 14, 1941, Irene was united in marriage to Michael Duane Minter Sr. in Mound City. They made their home and raised their son, Mike in Rock Port, where she lived to the present time.
In 1952, Irene was employed by Dr. Wallace Carpenter as his receptionist and bookkeeper, retiring in 1972 after 20 years.
Duane passed away in April of 2000.
Irene was a gracious lady, who loved and was dedicated to her family, and taught them the value of hard work. She had a joy-filled spirit and always had a smile.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port; member and past president of the Rock Port Chapter DU of the P.E.O. Sisterhood; and past worthy matron of Rock Port chapter No. 440, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge and looked forward to the time spent with her friends.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Fran Minter, Tarkio, Mo.; three grandsons, Shawn Minter and his wife, Jodee, Rock Port; Mike Minter, and his wife, Julie, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Timothy Minter, and his wife, Rachel, Platte City, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Andrew, Corbin, Braden, Alex, Gabriel and Olivia Minter; brother, Clyde Thompson, Santa Ana, Calif.; sister, Patricia Miller, and husband, Glenn, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; nephews, Kenny Miller, Greg Thompson and Barry Minter; nieces, Sue Jane Lidbeck and Vivian Miller; and cousin, Nick Lucas.
Besides her parents; and husband, Duane, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Burnett and Iris Wegenek; brother and sister-in-law, Gus Jr. and Wanda Minter; and nephew, David Miller.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at the United Methodist Church, Rock Port. Burial: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port. There is no scheduled family visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
