Irene Mary Sosh

Irene Mary Sosh, 74, Loma Rica, passed away February 3, 2026, at Mercy General Hospital from complications following open heart surgery.

She passed away with her sister, Virginia, by her side and in the arms of her only child, Angela. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and her passing was unexpected and much too soon.

She grew up in the sixties, wearing daisies in her hair, and embodied the spirit of the peace and love movement. Irene had a zest for life. She loved the outdoors and loved to explore and travel. She was true to the saying "All who wonder are not lost". She was a lifelong student, always learning something new, and was an avid reader of women's history of the old west. She was a consummate foodie and was always the first person to try something new and exotic.

For 45 years she was a passionate and caring registered nurse, retiring at 70 from Rideout Adventist, where she worked the night shift on 4 Main, the cardiac care unit. She truly loved her night shift family on 4 Main and her retirement was bittersweet. She absolutely loved patient care and was always willing to sit at the bedside of patients who were scared or in need of comfort. She was an amazing listener with an open and generous heart and a quick wit. Shy in crowds, she appreciated the personal connections she had made through the years.

She loved nothing more than spending time with daughter, Angela, and her three bouncy dogs. She is survived by her daughter, Angela, sisters Virginia and Carol, and her brother, Albert.

Irene is in the loving embrace of our Lord and was greeted by her parents, Albert and Mary Sosh, and her brother Joseph, who preceded her in death. She will be forever in our hearts. I love you mom.
