I have very fond memories of Mrs. Spector. She was my French and Latin teacher at Northwood. She was always so patient with me and helped me develop a love of languages. Her family should know what a great teacher she was and how loved she was by the students. May her memory be a blessing.

Irene was one of the best Play Group Grandmas! I always enjoyed conversations with her, and usually ended up laughing. I appreciate the comment from Ms Gorman about passing French if never travelling to France .... I had similar problems with French and wish that she had been my teacher~! She leaves a wonderful legacy of intelligence, humor and compassion with us all. We were fortunate to have her in our lives, however infrequently and briefly. But she lives on through her family.

Irene's funeral service at Mishkan Torah in Greenbelt was a moving and wonderful tribute to a great lady. We all will miss her.

I wasn't able to see Irene before she left for New Jersey, and just this morning my best friend told me about her death. I am heartbroken- I like to think Irene would live forever. Baruch dayan emet, and may her memory be for all of us who were lucky enough to know her, a blessing.

Although I didn't have her as my French teacher at Northwood, I see the fine tributes my classmates are posting to her at Facebook. My sincere sympathies -- may her memory be a blessing always. Robert Weinstein, Northwood '72

As students of Mrs Spector at Northwood both my husband and myself loved her. My husband Dennis loves to tell our kids that Mrs Spector was so nice she agreed to give him a passing grade if he agreed to never travel to France..Love to the family

Irene was a lovely person with a great sense of humor. I met her at the comedy club as my dad was also a member.
She will be dearly missed.
With deepest sympathy,
