Middleboro - Iris Zenaida Gomez, 71, passed away peacefully in her home on January 8, 2024, after a long illness. Born on June 5, 1952, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Iris was a caring, nurturing, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a strong and resilient woman who faced life's challenges with grace, always managing to navigate obstacles and achieve her goals despite adversity.

In her early 20s, Iris arrived in Bronx, New York City, with her sisters and mother, with the intention of pursuing the American dream and providing a better quality of life for her family. Her tenacity and self-reliance were evident in her ability to overcome personal challenges and extend a helping hand to others. Iris was a gracious and selfless woman who always went above and beyond for her loved ones.

Iris found joy in dancing and listening to Latin music, and she took great pride in being surrounded by her family and close friends. She was the central figure and matriarch of the family, extending herself as a caregiver to those in need. Despite her long and debilitating disease, Iris preserved her independence with a vibrant smile, exemplifying her stoic and strong-willed nature.

Her warmth, wisdom, and the joy she brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Iris leaves behind her son, Javier Morell, her daughter, Michelle Ramirez, and her grandson, Jaxtyn Ramirez.

A Celebration of Life service for Iris Zenaida Gomez will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10 AM at Boston Cremation, located at 287 Main St, Malden, MA 02148. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Boston Cremation in Malden, MA.
