Irma Crookshanks Obituary

Irmie (Giovacchini) Crookshanks passed away at her home in Carson City, Nevada, on February 12, 2025. Born Irma Dolores Giovacchini to Ernesto and Irma (Altman) Giovacchini on September 26, 1942, in Smith Valley, NV, Irmie was one of 17 children and spent her childhood on the family ranch in Smith Valley.

A proud graduate of Smith Valley High School, Class of 1960, Irmie moved to Carson City soon after to begin her career with the State of Nevada. She eventually found her professional home as a right-of-way agent with the Nevada Department of Transportation, where she made many lifelong friendships before retiring in 1991.

On March 20, 1970, Irmie married Robert C. Crookshanks and together they built their beloved home in Kings Canyon, where they raised their two sons, Clinton and Christopher. In her later years, Irmie loved gardening, spending time with her friends, caring for her cats, and staying involved in the lives of her four grandchildren. She remained deeply devoted to her extended family throughout her life.

Irmie was a longtime member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community in Carson City where she served as the money counter for several years.

She is survived by her sons, Clint (Kristen) and Chris (Chelise), her grandchildren, Cade, Taryn, Chloe, and Calla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Irmie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, in 2016, and all of her siblings.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila on March 21, 2025, at 11:00am with inurnment to follow.
