IRMA GIAMPOLO Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 26 to Mar. 27, 2014.
GIAMPOLO IRMA SCENNA
Age 94, of Oakland, passed away peacefully at Schenley Gardens on Monday, March 24, 2014, under the compassionate care of Gateway Hospice. She was born on December 2, 1919, daughter of the late Venanzo and Maria (Ferzoco). She was raised in Greenfield and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1938. Devoted wife of Carl "Gimp" for 71 years. She is survived by her children, Carlino, Carol (Regis Speck) and Gary; two grandchildren, Gary and Lorraine; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Dante. "In every gesture dignity and love," were words written about her in the 1938 Taylor Allderdice yearbook. She lived those words every day of her life. That was her grace. That was what came naturally to her. Visit www.Giampolo.net for a special tribute to this exceptional woman. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street in Oakland. Funeral Friday, March 28, 2014, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 11 a.m. Private entombment in Calvary Cemetery.

Irma was a wonderful woman. I was best friends with Gary and was at there home regularly through high school, college and years afterward. Every time I walked in the door Irma had a big, warm smile and offered me something to eat tor drink. Many times II accepted and shared a meal with Gary and the family. I am a richer person for having had Irma in my life during those formative years and I know she is still smiling down on me from heaven. Al Hergenroeder

Jesus says about Nathaniel: "Behold a man in whom there is no guile." I believe this could have been said about Irma Scenna Giampolo. This was a woman in whom there was no deceit, no guile. I will miss most of all her loving acceptance and her commitment to honesty and decency. She was the type of person who, with no fuss at all, made the world a better place. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. My condolences to her family and friends upon the loss of such a great woman.

In loving gratitude,

Eugene Stark
