Irving Kleinberg

Irving Kleinberg, 81, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Born on April 30, 1936 in Passaic, NJ, he served as an Airman 2nd Class in the U.S. Air Force National Guard from 1953-1958. Holding a degree from the American Academy of Mortuary Science, Irving spent much of his career as the proud owner and operator of Amber Cyclery, with stores operating in Fair Lawn, Teaneck and Wayne. His love for Flight flourished as captain for the Civil Air Patrol, and instructing ground school IFR, all while running his stores, and working in the funeral industry as a Director. While on the ground, Irv's favorite hobbies included wood carving, growing orchids, and building model planes. As a member of Masonic Lodge 203 in Clifton, Benjamin Cardoza Knights of Pythias Lodge, River Road Improvement Corporation, and two time president of the Fair Lawn Rotary Club, Irv's love of his community set him apart amongst his peers as 'Service Above Self' guided his life. He was a devoted husband to the Late MaryAnn Kleinberg, and predeceased in death by brother Sidney Kleinberg and wife Eileen. He is survived by his loving and committed wife Honey Kleinberg, sister Beatrice Rittenberg and husband Marty, children Jill Kleinberg and Sharon Ayscue, Steven Kleinberg and Laura Abita- Kleinberg, Michael and Rachelle Morgenstern, Kevin and Erika Proctor, six adoring grandchildren, and his most Cherished Dog Amelia.

We extend our sympathy to Steven and Jill and all the family for the loss of Irv. We were across the street neighbors in Wayne, NJ for several years. Rich and I truly enjoyed the friendship we had with The Kleinberg family.

Irv was a friend, brother Rotarian, colleague on the River Road Improvement District, and fellow joke teller for the last few decades. Most of all, he was an incredible mensch. May his memory be for a blessing and may his family find peace and joy in having shared his incredible love of them.
