IRVING WARHAFTIG Obituary
Irving Warhaftig, 79, of Wilmington, formerly of Wayne, N.J., died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Irv was born March 12, 1934 in Newark, N.J., son of the late Harry Warhaftig and Rose Schwartz Warhaftig. His brother, Charles Ward, preceded him in death this month on April 1st.
Irv is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Warhaftig; daughter, Dr. Nancy W. Glynn and her husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, P.A.; son, Dr. Jeffrey Warhaftig and his wife, Dr. Amanda Trimpey, of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Alexandra Glynn, and Cameron, Rose, Grace, and Thomas Trimpey-Warhaftig; and one niece and two nephews.
Irv graduated from Weequahic High School in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War, and upon his return attended Upsala College on the GI bill majoring in accounting. For the next 55 years, Irv's passion was his accounting practice, servicing clients across the New York Tri-State area. Intending to retire, Irv and Judy moved to Wilmington, but his adoring customers continued to request his services because of his quiet demeanor, experience, and sharp accounting skills.
For relaxation, Irv loved going to A.C. and Las Vegas, watching his New York Giants football team, and after 55 years was still upset that the baseball Giants left the Polo Grounds. He was an officer and board member of the Paterson Jaycees, and a member of the Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythias. But most of all, Pops, as he was affectionately known, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of their achievements.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Rabbi Paul Sidlofsky officiating. Interment will follow in Temple of Israel Cemetery, 307 N. 18th Street, Wilmington, N.C. 28405.

Dear Judy and Family,
Irving was such a special person in our lives. We are grateful that our accounting needs brought us together and appreciate his expertise there, but the true gift for us was Irv's kind heart, his love of family, and the caring way he went about all that he did.
