GREENSBORO - Dr. Isaac Henry Miller, Jr., 88, former resident of Greensboro, N.C., passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008, after a brief illness at Springwood Care Nursing Center of Forsyth, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, at Annie Merner Pfeiffer Chapel, Bennett College. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Dr. Miller was the former president of Bennett College. He served as president for 22 years before retiring and inspired many students as an educator. He was a valued civic leader and served in many organizations and on several boards.
Dr. Isaac H. Miller, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Jane Elliott, and his son, Kevin Elliott Miller.
Dr. Miller is survived by sons, Isaac, III (Deborah), Eric (Tammy) and Keith Miller; daughter, Kay Miller Askew (Tracy); daughter- in-law, Ramona (the late Kevin Miller); sister-in-law, Eliza Miller; nephews, J. Cecil Simpson, Jr., Ralph Shaw, Clarence and Eugene Harris; niece, Essie Harris; grandchildren, Jillian (Kevin and Ramona), Isaac, IV, Elena, Joshua (Isaac and Deborah), Braxton, Colby (Eric and Tammy), Kacy, Kyla (Kay and Tracy) and a host of dear cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "Heights of Excellence Scholarship," Bennett College for Women, 900 E. Washington Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.

I extend to you my deepest sympathy and I offer my sincere condolences at the loss of your loved one. Truly an honorable man, he will be greatly missed. I would also like to thank you for sharing him with all both in the educational realm as well as with the House of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. I just wanted to say that it was an honor to meet Bro. Miller for the first time when he came back to visit his charter chapter at BML in Salisbury NC.
