UNIVERSAL — Ivan “Ike” Dale Doan, 70, west of Universal, died at Paris Health Care on Friday morning Nov. 30, 2007. He was born Oct. 14, 1937 in Catlin to William Doan and Frances Birch Doan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served from 1952 to 1957. He also was a member of the Home Builders Association and he retired from Indiana Wholesalers after 40 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Betty Riley Doan west of Universal; three daughters, Cindy Spurr of Montgomery, Sonya Barnett of Nashville, Tenn., and Penny Peterson of Paris, Ill.; a brother, Greg Doan of Chrisman, Ill.; six grandchildren, Monica Wegler and Bill Spurr, both of Montgomery, Josh Barnett and Jessica Barnett, both of Nashville, Randall A. Peterson and Kristian Peterson, both of Paris; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn McElheny; a brother, Jimmy Doan; Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., with services at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Duke officiating. Burial will be in Shirley Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post 140 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6653.
