Dear Terry and 'Butch', I read the sad news about your dad about 6 weeks ago and have tried to contact you. Please be assured of our prayers and support: your dad was a warm and engaging person and a fine representative of his country. Thinking of you, Winifred

The last time I saw my Uncle Alan and his wife Ruth, was 5 years ago at his older brother, Bernard Beesley's funeral in Kamloops, B.C. Bernard was my dad. I am one of 7 siblings and Uncle Alan was one of 5 siblings. He had a younger brother Terry who died in WWII, a sister Noreen, who died several years ago, and a younger sister, Liz, who died last year. He was a great man, Uncle Alan. My Mom, Marguerite Beesley and some of my siblings stay in close touch with Alan Beesley (Butch), especially my younger sister Kathleen. When Terry lived in Vancouver with her family, my siblings and I again had great family get-togethers with her and Butch.
I was unable to attend the funeral but there was a mob of Beesley relatives who did. My thoughts and prayers are with Ruth, Butch and Terry at this sad time. I will always remember the twinkle in his eye and his kind words to everyone.
All my love

Dear Terry and Butch,
Ambassador Beesley will remain one of my favourite people in this world. He did a lot of good.
I remember how much he loved his children, and how frustrated he was by having to travel so frequently.
I will also remember his laughter, and how he livened up every party he ever attended!
Much love and hugs to both of you in saying goodbye to a wonderful father and a great man,

My thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow, and I wish to express my deepest sympathy. I was his secretary at the Canadian Permanent Mission to the U.N. in Geneva and what comes to mind is being quite impressed with Mr. Beesley's phenominal memory: he could quote lines from his 12 bulky black binders of speeches delivered at previous conferences!
Bon courage, Rosa Barrieau

There are many things worth mentioning about YellowPoint Lodge......you can expect the same rustic ambience, same daily menus, and the same people during the same time period every year. Alan Beesley was one of those people that you could count on visiting in the last week of July with his sense of humor and barely audible laugh. He kept an eye on all of us and always kept us in the loop of the guest gossip....Thanks for the memories and friendship. From the Girls in Three Oaks cabin.

Dear Ruth -- My sincere condolences to you. Alan's poolside, witty, stories will definitely be missed at Yellow Point Lodge. Our group from Three Oaks always enjoyed talking with him and it was an inspiration to watch the two of you swim in the pool, no matter how cold! Having just read of Alan's long list of awards and accolades, I see that he was also a very humble man - I had no idea of all that he had accomplished.
Alan was very fortunate to have had you at his side, caring for him. Please take care. My thoughts are with you.

We will certainly miss Alan and have fond memories of time spent with Alan and Ruth at Yellow Point, in Hawaii, and at their home. May the twinkle in his eyes and his wry wit and wisdom stay with us.
