Dear Janet, Jake, and Ed,
Matt was the best friend I ever had. He profoundly influenced me, politically and intellectually. No one misses him like you three, but I'm up there somewhere near the top.

Dear Janet,

I worked at PPU from 1977 to 1994 in what was then the International Student Affairs Center. I knew your late husband well. Likewise, much later in life, from 2004 to 2008, I attended the University of Pittsburgh, for my graduate studies, with your son Jacob. I have always held your whole family and their tremendous generosity and accomplishments in the highest regard. Your husband, like you, devoted his entire life to so much good. I benefited from his generosity. Though I am very sorry to have just learned of his passing, I send my most heartfelt condolences to you and your sons.

I was giving my retirement speech at WPSBC and mentioned your name as a positive memory. Afterwards MaryAnne told me about your loss of Matt. I am very sorry . You are all in my prayers.

Judith and I were both saddened to hear of Matt's passing. However we have so many found memories of the years we shared as colleagues and peers at Point Park Universityand that has lessened the sadness to a degree. Matt and I were in the same class at Albright and graduated together in 1963. We also were members of the Kappa Upsilon Phi fraternity and pledged the same year. I remember dinner at his parents house and listening to his band many times. As someone with a tin ear it was great to play a tambourine one night on stage with the band as a joke and then the owner of the club paid me too. What a laugh we had.

Great loss to all of us. I enjoyed his friendship and his support during long years I had known him as chairman and president.

My sincere condolences our offered to Janet and your family. May you find peace and comfort in the memories and good works Matt leaves as his legacy. My sincere condolences are extended to the family of Dr Simon. Matt's contributions to the community, Point Park University and his family and friends will live on. It was my good fortune to have known him and to have worked with him.

Saved Point Park College when it was about to go belly up...I was a student during that time and applaud Dr. Simon for all he did at Point Park.

Janet, Jacob and Edward; we are so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many. We hope you find comfort and peace through this difficult time.
