Jacie Cochran, age 26 of Cashion, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, July 2, 2020. Jacie Ann Stephens was born April 12, 1994 in Norman, the younger of two daughters born to Jay and Lea Ann Stephens. Jacie grew up in Washington, and attended Washington Schools, graduating with the Warrior Class of 2013. Like most girls there, Jacie dreamed of playing softball for the Lady Warriors and eventually in college. She mostly enjoyed cutting up in the locker room and long bus rides with her teammates. Her drive and competitive spirit made her a natural leader. Her first team was the Washington Slammers, followed by years of travel ball with the Drillers, Twisters, Ultimate, Jitterbugs and the Tulsa Eagles. Each team presented new challenges and Jacie embraced each challenge. As a catcher, Jacie was named All State, and won Championships for the Lady Warriors in slow pitch, and was a valued member of the fast pitch team. Her dream of playing at the next level become a reality when she signed with Emporia State University, a power program in the MIAA Conference. Jacie once again embraced the moment, and before leaving Emporia State, she was named Rookie of the Year, and Two Time MIAA All Conference. Her leadership was never more apparent, than when she accepted an invitation to serve on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She stepped out of her comfort zone and overcome some natural fears, and learned so much about herself. By chance one night, at an organization event, she met an aspiring young football coach from Cashion, OK. His name was Cale Cochran, and the rest as they say, is history. They shared so much in common, from their upbringing to their approach to life, and they were a perfect match. On July 3, 2018, Jacie and Cale were united in marriage in Edmond, Oklahoma. Life was exciting for Jacie in this new life chapter. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science Degree from Emporia and began a new career with Paycom. Again, her drive and determination helped her quickly advance in promotions. With each promotion come new opportunity, and she travelled the country promoting the company, with the ultimate goal in management. Throughout all of her life, Jacie remained true to one thing above all others. Her family. She was a small-town girl and she loved coming home to Washington. Jacie and Lea Ann were the best of friends, and whether it was a family vacation in Destin, Disney World, camping and riding ATV’s in Colorado, a girl’s day shopping or just some quiet family time, Jacie knew there was no place like home. She always remained true to self. She loved sno cones and donuts, hanging out poolside with her sister Stephanie, and who could forget her rap music. More recently, she tackled the game of golf, and looked forward to playing with Cale. Nearly year ago, Jacie stepped up to the plate again. This was a new challenge though, as she found out she would become a mother. And like every time before, Jacie owned the moment. She had big plans and looked forward to being a mother to Jaxon Jay. And her last big hit was her very best ever.
Jacie was preceded in death by:

She is survived by:

Hi Lea Ann, I am Donna (Lovins) Wunderlin, and you know my sister Sandra. I lived in Shawnee, Kansas, during Jacie's years of play at Emporia State. My husband and I made trips to home games to watch Jaci play. I couldn't believe when I received the news of her passing. I can not express the heart felt sadness, and grief. I pray for Stephens and Cochran familes. Take Care and God Bless.

It is difficult for me to find the words to express how sorry I am for your loss! Jacie was a leader, strong in her beliefs, talented in her sport, enjoyed and loved her family, husband and baby boy everyday of her life. Jacie will live on in her beautiful son, Jaxon, the love and memories that she and Cale shared, the loving relationship she shared with her sister, Stephanie, the close mother-daughter relationship she had with Lea Ann and the pride, joy, and love of her father, Jay. Family was very important to Jacie. She loved her great-grandmother, her grandparents, in-laws, and all the rest of the family members. One of my favorite memories of Jacie was when I bought her her first Build-A-Bear when we were in New York. She was like a little girl getting her first teddy bear. Jacie will be missed terribly. She will never be forgotten! I pray that your pain may be eased with time, memories, and your love for Jacie. Her love and spirit will always be with you.

I have shared so many memories and belly laughs with Jacie. We have always had such a fun time together. I am so incredibly thankful I was able to see her a handful of times within the last few months. We talked about many things and we were able to catch up on all aspects of our lives. J, you will be deeply missed, but always here with us. Jax is one lucky little boy to have you as his guardian angel. Sending love to the Cochran and Stephens family. ♥

When I think of Jacie I see this young lady with a big smile and a wonderful spirit. I knew her as a teammate to Taylor Zordel, who I had coached and I watched her play many games at Emporia State. I had several girls I had coached playing at ESU during that time and we would gather up for a photo and Jacie would jump in and say, 'hey Holaday, can I be part of this group?' That kid touched my heart and later I coached against her when I became the Washburn University coach. Such a great competitor and played the game the way you should. I loved staying in touch with her life through FB and always admired how open she was about her family and how incredibly close she was to them. Loved seeing pics of her trips with her mom, and more recently the baby shower. When I saw Stephanie and her together, they always looked like each other's hero. She was so proud to be Cale's wife. I remember seeing video of the proposal at a hotel on a softball trip. How perfect, surrounded by family and teammates. I will hold all of you in my thoughts and prayers and will remember Jacie, always.

Jacie was always a light in every room. Her laughter was so contagious. My favorite memory, Although it was many years ago, I still laugh about slammers practice at the Stephens house when I fell in a hole and sprained my ankle. No matter who got hurt, jacie would always laugh, making you forget about the pain just long enough to laugh with her and then shed make sure you were okay. She was the type that was always there for you when you needed someone the most. She was sassy, sweet, ornery, funny, kind, loving, and passionate! Her love for softball was like none Id ever seen! That girl could PLAY SOME BALL! Im so heartbroken for her family, coworkers, teammates, classmates, but most of all, her husband and sweet baby boy, whom she left behind too soon. She was a warrior for sure! She left behind a town of warriors who will ALWAYS look after and be there for her family, no matter what. Once a warrior, always a warrior. Our hearts and prayers are with you, always.
