ABRAMSON _ Jack Jordan, born June 10, 1926, Vancouver, passed away peacefully April 17, 2005. Left to mourn is his loving family: wife Katri, sons Ricky (Shai) and James (Irena), daughter Janice (Bill) Bakas, brother Gerry. Also seven adored grand-children, many other relatives and friends. Jack began his career as an optometrist with Irvie Hollenberg. This unique partnership spanned half a century and led to the formation of Western Optical and the Optical Department of London Drugs. Jack and Irvie shared many adventures and humorous times. This was a partnership made in heaven, where it will surely continue. Jack's involvement in the dispensary of the UBC/VGH Eye Care Centre gave him much satisfaction and raised considerable funding for equipment and research. Always a loyal and loving man, Jack will be missed for his wit and humour; life was never dull when Jack was nearby. Jack was laid to rest April 18th at the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery with his parents and brothers Alan and Kenny. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favourite charity in Jack's honour would be appreciated by the family.

I was privileged to have worked for Jack & Irvie at Pitman Optical in the late 1950s. It remains one of my best working memories... everyone always was so positive, good natured and played lots of practical jokes to keep life interesting. (like giving us chocolates which turned out to be chocolate covered ants)...lots of fond memories.

Had the pleasure of working with Jack and Irvie for several years. Pitman Optical was a great place to work and we had so much fun. I remained friends with Jack for several years.... he will be missed.

Always a gentleman,I will never forget my first meeting with Jack and Irvie. I was a young, newly educated optician in Calgary, and when I came home to open Peepers Optical in 1980, Jack came by just to wish me the best. He could put a smile on anyone's face. I am sad for your family's loss, and the rest of us will miss you too.
