We were lucky to meet John while riding the Pamir Highway. We bumped into each other and decided to cycle together. We only had the chance to spend one week together but while riding along the afghan border, arguing with the military over the safety of our camp spot, bathing in an ice cold natural swimming pool and sharing countless stories and even more cookies, candy and dust meals we became friends. It's strange but during such an intense time days feel like months and weeks like years and we felt like we had known each other much longer.
John will always be in our heart and always travel along with us. We're still cycling and there is no day we don't think of him. He was such a wonderful soul, being the joy himself, always making us laugh and at the same time always open for a serious conversation.

We're deeply sorry the world has lost this incredible person and hope that one day the memory and thought of John will bring everyone only joy and no more tears.

With all our hearts,
Marielle and Henning

I'm sending this picture of Osh as a sign of respect for all you accomplished. You were ahead of us only a couple of days. A fellow cyclist.

We loved having Jack part of the Glenbard West Swim Team. He was a Sweetheart of a guy. So so Very Sorry for his passing. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Jack made me laugh like an idiot at camp and I´m grateful for the brief time we knew each other

I will always remember our "yearly comment" in the "Jack Barker looks like Steve Irwin" album with Jack´s friend from Camp Edwards, Joanna Kristmann. Jack brought so much joy to so many people´s lives and I know how much my friend Joanna enjoyed camp with Jack and cherished their friendship. Jack is gone way too soon but did live a very full, action packed life. He will be missed by so many.
