Jack Dale Billings Sr.

Jack Dale Billings Sr., age 93, of 940 East Lee Hwy., Chilhowie, Va., passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born on October 15, 1929 in Alleghany County, N.C., to the late Parl Bowers and Virginia Vannoy Billings. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Darrell Billings; first wife, Dollie Billings; two brothers, Bill Billings and Sonny Billings; and one nephew, Steve Billings.

Mr. Billings was born in Piney Creek, N.C. at the onset of the Great Depression. After moving to Pa. as a child, he enlisted in the Army in World War II and traveled the country after his service. He moved his family and business south in the 1970's and eventually settled in Marion, Va. He spent his spare time bouncing grandkids on his knees.

He is survived by four sons, Jack Billings Jr. and Julie Grandstaff of Rural Retreat, Va., Ray Patton and wife, Elizabeth, of Maynardville, Tenn., Dr.'s Jay Jay Billings and Paige Landry of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Joshua Dunn of North Dakota; three daughters, Donna Thomas of Stuart, Va., Tina Ward and Keith Brewer of Marshallberg, Va., and Jacqueline Billings of Pulaski, Va.; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandson; second wife, Sarah Billings of Dublin, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held to honor the life of Jack Dale Billings Sr..
