Jack Freeder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2025.
Jack Clinton Freeder passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 28, 2025 after a month-long fight of acute leukemia.

Growing up in Kenmore, Jack was a 1962 graduate of Kenmore High School. He graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He then began a life-long career as an educator in the Coventry Local Schools, teaching various grades at Lakeview Elementary and Erwine Middle School. Upon retirement in 2000, he worked for Malone University as Co-Director of the America Reads Program for 18 years, having spent over 50 years in the service of public education.

Jack was a true Christian and a member of The Chapel in Green.

Jack and his wife Patti shared 58 years of a happy marriage. They raised twin girls, travelled, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Jack's devotion to his family was never ending. A kind and caring soul, he had no enemies.

Jack was a continual fan of the Cleveland Browns, despite their disappointing seasons. He watched the Ohio State Buckeyes bring home National Championships and followed the Clevleand Guardians and Cavaliers.

Jack had a love of cars and could be seen cruising the Portage Lakes in his convertible with Patti by his side, usually making a stop for ice cream.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Helen Freeder and brother Henry, he is survived by his devoted wife Patti, daughters Julie Marcu (John) and Kimberly Milinkovich (Frank), grandchildren Emily Schott (Geoff), Joe Marcu, Patrick Marcu, Frankie Mlinkovich, Della Milinkovich, great-granddaughters Elyse and Caroline Schott and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jack's Life will take place on October 11, 2025 at The Chapel in Green. Calling hours will begin at 10:30 am with a memorial service beginning at noon. A light luncheon will follow the service . Guests attending should enter the church at door D. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coventry High School Scholarship fund in memory of Jack Freeder.

Earlier today

We have had a pleasure getting to know Jack over the past few of years. A firm believer in Christ and the education system. He talked about his devoted career in education and always smiled about how many lives he was able to touch through teaching. What he really smiled about was sports, the family devoted to their Cleveland teams. Jack was always smiling with Patti by his side. You could tell how much he loved his family and friends. He was true hero to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Jack. Our family feels very blessed to have known Jack and we will forever be inspired by him. Love and Prayers to all who love Jack.
