Jack Frye Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 3 to May 5, 2023.
Jack Frye - Jack Frye passed away after a three-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was preceded in death by his father Ray Gibbs, stepfather Frank Frye, mother Kathy Frye, and sister Libby Grimm.

Jack was born in Clinton, TN and was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Spallation Neutron Source where he was an integral part of the SNS Beam Line Operations Team. Jack was an avid car enthusiast, music lover, paddleboarder, and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He especially enjoyed beach vacations with the family.

He is survived by Lori, his wife of 35 years; daughter Rachel and fianc? Andy Jacobs; daughter Vanessa and partner Robert Partee III; and grand dogs Leo, Luna, and Ruston. Additionally, he is survived by brothers Michael Frye, Sam Newton, Tim Frye, Jim Frye and sister Lorine Frye as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his colleagues at the Spallation Neutron Source and his ALS Patient Care Coordinator Suzanne Schrag for their support during this difficult time.

During his illness, Jack actively participated in clinical trials to contribute to ALS research. He chose to be an organ and tissue donor so that he can further contribute to finding a cure for ALS. Jack's wishes were to be cremated. His wife and daughters will hold a private ceremony to scatter his ashes. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ALS Rocky Mountain Chapter who has provided exemplary support to Jack and his family during this difficult time.

Hello,

My name is Alex and I worked alongside Jack.

I often enjoyed talking with him about woodworking and projects he and I were working on during our downtime. He was always a very kind and thoughtful listener and would often offer advice that I value to this day.

I would like to share one memory I have. Before Jack moved to be closer with his family, he reached out to me to see if I wanted to buy any of his woodworking tools. I happily took him up on his offer and ended up spending an hour or two in his garage talking about all sorts of things and life in general. I still have those tools I got from Jack and like to think that I am honoring his memory by using them.

I am grateful to have known jack and offer my best wishes to his friends and family.
