Jack and Louise Harmon were like my second parents growing up on Hedrick Circle in Statesville, NC. They were such good friends of my parents, Allen and Jean Knox, and our family gathered around a beautiful, lightly used dining room table set, which my parents "stole" from them at a give away price, for many wonderful meals until they passed away in 2005 and 2007.
Jack was such a happy family man, with a twinkle in his big blue eyes and a friendly smile for everyone. What a joy it was spending time in the Harmon home with their lovely family, including my best friend and schoolmate, Bev Harmon. Wonderful spaghetti dinners with chilled watermelon sliced in round pieces on plates during spend-the-nights, rides with the family on their pontoon boat at Lake Norman, going to see "Parent Trap" with Hayley Mills at the downtown movie theater for the first time, eating at the seafood place toward Troutman when "hush puppies" were so new and exciting to me, riding on their backyard zip line and trapeze. The Harmons added so much to my formative years, and more love could not go out from my heart at this time to yours, Louise, Beverly, and Diane.
You are all, eternally, a part of the best of me!
Love,
Amanda Knox Bunton
